About Thomas Werner

Thomas was born 1961 in Bautzen, Germany. After his studies of Telecommunications at the University of Dresden he attained a doctorate in the area of digital signal processing. Thomas started his career at Philips Kommunikationsindustrie AG in the area of IT & product management. In 1992 he moved to Brussels to become the manager of the „Image Communication“ within the EU RACE program. Key topics of this project were the development of DVB and MPEG standards. In 1995 Thomas joined Siemens AG as marketing manager for the introduction of new products and services around fixed and mobile networks. From 2000-2004 he held the responsibility as SVP for Business Development of the Siemens mobile network business. In 2004 Thomas was responsible for creating a new mobile enterprise business unit which he transformed later to the successful Mobile Solutions business unit. After the merger of Siemens and Nokia to Nokia Siemens Networks in 2007 Thomas was assigned as the head of the Business Line Applications with various products around Messaging, Browsing as well as MobileTV and IPTV. In his professional career Thomas acquired a vast amount of technical and commercial knowledge, management and leadership skills as well as a broad network within the telecommunications industry.
